Happy Sunday, guys!
Guess what? We finally got snow! Winter is my favorite season of the year. I love the crisp cool air, the snow, the holiday spirit, and the feeling of just wanting to snuggle up by the tree. That being said, winter can also be the most difficult season to deal with. That’s why I make sure I always have my essentials handy by the time December rolls around.
So, I actually hate wearing socks most of the time, but there is just something about fuzzy socks in the winter that makes me feel all warm and cozy.
English Breakfast Tea
Throughout the rest of the year I like to drink more herbal teas, but this is my favorite tea during the winter. I always drink it with 2 sugars and some cream 🙂
Essential oils are a must for me during the winter months. I use them for everything, but they are especially good for keeping those airways clear and helping boost your immune system. I also love the personalized homey smell they add to a home, just by adding your own blends to a diffuser. My current favorite is Cassia and White Fir.
Winter is such a good time to catch up on some reading, especially if you’re snowed in. I put together a great reading list for this winter season. Feel free to check it out!
I have a pair of sweatered Ugg boots that are probably more than 5 years old and still in great condition. I could live in these things!
I am such a hat girl. I have thin hair, which tends to be pretty uncooperative this time of year. I love having the ability to just throw a hat on my head and let my hair do its thing.
The air here in Colorado is already dry and it just seems to get worse in the winter. I make sure to always have lotion nearby to keep my skin moisturized during these winter months. My current favorites are doTERRA’s Citrus Bliss Hand Lotion and Jergen’s Original.
My house is covered in throw blankets this time of year. We usually have a basket in the living room filled with a variety for people to choose from. Target has some of the best throw blankets!
I would wear sweaters all year if I could. I love any type of clothing that I don’t have to put much thought into, and sweaters are at the top of that list.
This is a must in my house during this time of year. If you haven’t heard of elderberry syrup before, I urge you to look into it. Not only does this stuff taste amazing, it also does wonders for your immune system. I make a batch during the fall to make sure we have it available when seasonal threats and germs are at their highest. Monterey Bay Spice Company has a lovely recipe that I follow each time I make it.
I absolutely love soups! They can be thrown together with as many as fifteen ingredients or as little as four, which is great if you’re on a budget. During the summer it’s usually all about grilling, so when December rolls around I can’t wait to indulge in all the brothy goodness.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
I am a chocolate lover, like I’m sure most of you are. One of my favorite things to do during the winter is sit inside on a snowy day with a cup of peppermint hot chocolate in my hands.
What are some of your winter essentials?
