Have you ever heard of rosewater? I’ve been using it for a while now, but I’ve become extra obsessed with it lately. Pure rosewater is the by-product of rose essential oil production. Its use in skin care dates back to early Egypt, in the times of Cleopatra. This is a product fit for a queen, and when you hear about the benefits it provides you’ll understand why.
Rosewater is basically a beauty potion created by the Gods. It is packed full of antioxidants, which helps strengthen skin cells and encourages cell regeneration. Rosewater also possesses anti-inflammatory, astringent, anti-bacterial, and moisturizing properties. These properties make rosewater perfect for hydrating and cleansing the skin, aiding in oil production control and pH balance, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size, and aiding in the healing of cuts and scars. And those are just the skin benefits. Rosewater is wonderful for raising vibrations and enhancing mood, helping balance hormones, adding shine to hair, aiding in digestion, helping to improve circulation, and so much more.
Can you see why I’m obsessed?
I’ve found the easiest way to benefit from rosewater is to add it to my nightly skin care routine. I added it to a spray bottle with Bergamot essential oil to use as a toner.
*Bergamot essential oil is a photosensitive oil so direct sunlight should be avoided for 12 hours after use. I recommend using this recipe as part of your nighttime skincare routine.
Bergamot and Rosewater Toner
4 TBSP Pure Rosewater
1 tsp Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 tsp Rose hip Seed Oil
10 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
Add all ingredients to a 4 0z amber spray bottle and shake. Make sure to shake before each use because the oils will separate while sitting.
To use: After washing your face, close your eyes and spray onto face. Let air dry.
